WHAT’S BORG OF PRIPYAT?

Pubblicato il 8/4/2026

Borg of Pripyat will thrust you into a scenario filled with mutants, anomalous and devastating atmospheric phenomena (known as L.E.A.P.), and deserted places on the edge of civilization. A world where power strives to conceal the truth, which at times escapes its control. You will feel the following main emotions: the tension during explorations in desolate environments, the anguish of moral dilemmas in extreme situations, the awe at astonishing revelations, and the pressure of making choices that can change the course of events. These elements will guarantee you an engaging and immersive gaming experience.

This game will take you back to the ’90s, in a world where the Soviet Union never collapsed and the communist regime won the Cold War thanks to a pivotal scientific breakthrough. The Chernobyl disaster wasn’t caused by human error, but by the impact of fragments from the asteroid Eridu hitting the Earth. This alien material, called “eridite”, was harnessed by Soviet scientists as a new type of fuel for nuclear energy production, with staggering results. The Soviet Union became the global leader in energy production and export, achieving superpower status.

However, the exploitation of eridite has given rise to new threats: misshapen beings that are no longer human, apparitions, presences, and unknown devastating atmospheric phenomena. The interest in this novel energy resource has become the fulcrum of life within the Soviet Union. Yet, some resist, fighting to destroy what they see as the source of a new evil.

You will become extraordinary individuals, venturing into the danger zones of the Soviet Union. Be it the corridors of power or the old basements of crumbling buildings in dead cities like Pripyat. Will you emerge as the crucial piece in determining a new balance of power, or will you align with those who want to preserve a dominant status? All this is Borg of Pripyat.

THEMES
The dark world of Borg of Pripyat offers an endless range of possibilities and scenarios.

The PCs belong to a group thrust into a myriad of situations, unveiling something significant but also dangerous, if not downright terrifying. Even though they are armed and prepared, the threat that awaits them is one they aren’t truly ready for.
Expect some sequences of intense violence, and both physical and mental strain, with a potentially rough, colorful language. The action can be described as if in a movie, with an imaginary camera zooming in on key moments and offering unexpected perspectives.

THE WORLD OF BORG OF PRIPYAT
Borg of Pripyat is set in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), which stands as the world’s new center. The air is tinged with the essence of a communist regime bent on preserving the strength of the State, where the reach of the Warsaw Pact has expanded under the impetus of the recent nuclear resource.

The USSR erects new eridite-enhanced nuclear power plants around the globe, maintaining control over them. Given their hazardous nature, these sites require constant military surveillance, always provided by the Motherland itself. Strategically, the Soviets mandate security overwatch within host nations for their nuclear sites, offering energy at lower costs in return.

Few resist the economic benefits of the new frontier of upgraded atomic energy.

THE EXCLUSION ZONE
The infamous Chernobyl disaster struck the nearby city of Pripyat and a vast region of nearly 430 km² [≈ 166 mi²], extending to the areas of Kiev, Minsk, and Smolensk, which are now the main gateways to what has become the Exclusion Zone. However, not everyone has fled this ravaged land, which has become a refuge for the Skelet communities (p. 41).

DANGEROUS AREAS
In all locations where eridite concentration is high—like in reservoirs for nuclear power plants cooling, around the plants themselves, and in nuclear waste storage sites—the environment may turn dangerous.

The asteroid debris has spread across many regions of the Soviet Union, and not all of the material has been located.

Areas impacted by eridite, or those neighboring them, may morph into zones where existence becomes perilous, if not outright fatal. Small towns, villages, or some isolated farms may be best avoided or crossed with caution, and with the right gear.

Major cities like Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Minsk, Gorky, Tbilisi, Odessa, and many others weren’t directly affected, but today, every residential area is equipped with alarm sirens to signal mutant threats or imminent atmospheric phenomena.
